FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Verment Kombucha organic? Yes! Verment Kombucha is organically certified according to Article 35(1) of EU Regulation 2018/848 — certified by Prüfgesellschaft ökologischer Landbau mbH. 🌱
Has Verment Kombucha won any awards? Oh yes! We scooped up the Golden Prize in the Fruit & Flower category at the World Kombucha Awards 2025. Not a bad start, right?
Where can I buy Verment Kombucha besides the online shop? Every Saturday, you can find us at the market at Kollwitzplatz in Berlin. Additionally, Verment is available in selected stores — just drop us a line, and we'll tell you where to find us near you.
What flavors are currently available? We currently have three flavors on offer: Grapefruit Szechuan, Sea Buckthorn Elderflower, and Rhubarb.
Do you also sell SCOBY? Yes! Our Verment Organic SCOBY is available every Saturday at Kollwitzplatz in Berlin.
Do you offer kombucha workshops? Demand is growing — and we love the idea! If you're interested, just get in touch with us.
Why should I drink kombucha? Because you know what's good for you. Whether it's summer heat or a gray autumn day — kombucha fans don't need an occasion. What matters is the taste and the feeling. So: get out your glass, pour, enjoy. Tastiness guaranteed. 🫧
What does "Verment" mean? We love fermentation — and hopefully, you do too! That's why we took the German "V" and made it Verment. Clever, right? 😄
Does Verment Kombucha contain caffeine? Yes, but very little. Tea leaves naturally contain caffeine — unlike energy drinks, but without artificial additives or excessive sugar.
How much caffeine is in it? Only about 15mg per serving — that's barely noticeable, even if you're sensitive to caffeine.
Does Verment Kombucha contain alcohol? Kombucha is a real alternative to alcohol. Due to natural fermentation, less than 0.5% alcohol is produced — this is legally classified as alcohol-free.
Is Verment Kombucha vegan? 100% yes. All ingredients we use are vegan.
What is a SCOBY? SCOBY stands for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast — a living culture that converts sugar into organic acids, amino acids, and enzymes. Sounds fancy, tastes great.
How do I store kombucha at home? In the refrigerator! The pH of kombucha should be between 2.5 and 4.2 — chilling ensures everything stays stable.
What is Szechuan pepper? Sichuan pepper isn't actually a pepper — it's the berry of the prickly ash tree from the citrus family. Harvested by hand once a year and sun-dried. With a unique, slightly citrusy tingle on the tongue. Just try it. 🌶️
What is the optimal brewing process for kombucha at home? That depends on temperature and your personal taste — but typically, fermentation time is between 7 and 21 days.
How do I know if my kombucha is healthy? No mold (no blue or white fuzz on the SCOBY), a slightly sour smell, SCOBY growth, and white threads in the drink — these are all good signs. Does it smell like rotten eggs? Then it's better to start fresh.
How much SCOBY do I need for my first batch? For 2 liters of kombucha, we recommend about 300ml of Verment Starter Liquid.
What temperature is ideal for brewing? Ideally between 22–26°C room temperature. Below 18–19°C it becomes risky — the bacteria cannot sufficiently acidify the batch, and mold can form.
How much Verment Kombucha can I drink? For beginners: start slowly and see how your body reacts. In general, there are no strict limits — just listen to your gut. Literally. 😄
